Our Journey So Far With Sidehustle 4.0
The internship with Side Hustle 4.0 cohort has been both compensating and forward-looking. Sticking with us on this piece, a realistic recapture of happenings at the Side Hustle 4.0 is your lots.
Though already in the 5th week, the program originally commenced for this cohort in the later part of September this year (2021). We witnessed excellent performance from fellow participants. And we have also missed a number of others retracting. But we want to be strong and remain active learners as a slogan from one of our host (Side Hustle)'s write up on medium proposes and encourages:
"Don't stop learning!"
We are on with our 2nd capstone project at the moment with group 80 of the Frontend-html-css-tailwind-js track to which I and my team are members. The Project is a landing page being executed with the application of the principles of HTML and CSS/Tailwind framework. At the conclusion of the necessary steps, the end product of the project would showcase a landing page that is responsively functional, beholder-appealing and user-friendly with interfaces that are not off-putting when view at a glance by every of its users.
With Side Hustle 4.0, Interns are provided with the options of taking up to three courses. However, our Mentors proposed we maintain just a main track for proper monitoring and purposefulness.
Weekly tests are set by our Mentors to make our learning experience practical. The Mentors on their own have been unexpectedly welcoming and collaborative.
In checmating interns' activities on the tests, a number of rules are put into consideration. One of such is the condition that so-so mark must be attained by a scaling Mentee for every week to warrant participation in the next level of the Programme. The following depicts this more vividly:
Week 1-45
Week 2-50
Week 3-55
Week 4-60
Week 5-65
Week 6-70.
Apart from the tests, the division of interns into myriad of groups is yet another assistive ideas about the internship with Side Hustle 4.0. Collaboration, visual-thinking, computer skills, accountability, listening skills, time management and readiness to act with little or no supervision are some of the positive things realisable with this grouping initiative.
Telegram, Facebook, medium, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, hashnode, slack and the Ninja Coding Channel are among the educative and informative platforms we have been opportune to come across courtesy of the programme... Though the web initiated our meeting with Side Hustle following our registration; it was not long before we are moved to telegram a more accommodative and friendly platform that have remained most useful for the delivery of the learning experience virtually between the Mentors and the interns.
We are on slack at the moment. Though it has proven to require special monitoring, with aimful persistence, this challenge is gradually becoming non-existing.
Our Mentors have been extra-ordinarily humane in their approach at dealing with us. Cases of interns that are group-less making it to week 4 having passed their weekly tests have been witnessed. Also, permission to retake excusable missed tests are noticeable. A yet conspicuous gesture o this regards is seen with @Garfield (the internship founder) for the week 4 announcing a no failure scaling of every interns into week 5. What do we call this if not a relief!
On our Frontend-Tailwind Track, the execution of Payment Card for capstone project 1 was a plus. At present, we are working and we are doing everything humanly possible to record yet another success at our capstone project 2 by His Grace!
This account would be lacking greatly if we fail to recognise the teaching prowess of Mentor @Faruq Azeez and Mentor @Drey. Each and everyone of them have been exceedingly approachable and always rated high with their obligations on the programme. As for Mentor Faruq Azeez, every interns attest to the simplicity he employs at explaining Programming concepts. His ability to demisify concepts learnt so far from HTML down to JS have made the course more appealing and revealing to us. Same can also be said about Mentor @Drey; his eagerness to link us and rightly direct us is invaluable. He has been an inseparatable source of inspiration behind the screen to many of us at this track. We salute his doggedness.
At our own end with Side Hustle 4.0, coming out promising has been our watchword. We can see clearly that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Thus our resolution to doing all that are there to clinch the deserving success. Be it through keeping vigil with executing our assignments or cashing out to be 'dataful' for virtual engagements.
No retreat no surrender has been our approach to our participation at Side Hustle 4.0. This is meant to score the point that the youth of Nigeria are not lazy. They have potentialities waiting to be tapped; they are legends requiring the right tweaking and they are among the best things considerate of shaping the tomorrow of every nation aiming beyond the sky in her endeavours at serving humanity in this world of constant change in technologies and its interdependence outlook.
